It might be useful to determine whether a mummy-impression on the reed
mat from a recently discovered pit (KV-63) -- just outside Tut's tomb
-- fits the body shape and size of the possible Nefertiti remains
found in KV-35.

I thought it was inside a coffin? The impression, that is.

I know, there's nothing to stop a reed mat from being
inside a coffin...

Exactly. Although I'm no expert, all the coffins in 63 might have come
from the same exhumation. One inside the other, am I right?

Perhaps, the black resin on the coffins could be seen through,
somehow. Detecting the molecular difference between this resin and the
underlying wood, a scanner of some sort might reveal a name...and
solve a mystery.

Kiya--Smenkhare--Nefertiti--all the same personage, from a time when
the pharoah warred with the priesthood?

And did the angered high priest exact a vengeance on Nefertiti, by
replacing her sarcophagus with that of the "reformed" Tutankhaten?

Yeah, maybe that's going a bit far out there. There are plenty other
Amarna figus who could easily have fit the emptied coffin, emptied
sarcophagus and emptied tomb that comprise the key elements of this
mystery. The x-ray of a nefer, in the chest of the walled-in KV-35
personage, makes a compelling guess for Nefertiti herself...but still
no conclusive proof of anything except a priestly cover-up.
