| Twenty-three percent of ancient sites in the East
| Delta region alone have disappeared in the past
| 30 years, with 8 percent lying under towns and
| 76 percent undergoing full to partial removal.
| Should the same rate of site destruction continue
| and increase, by 2050, virtually all archaeological
| sites, or tells, could be wiped out in the region.

If Hawass had a decent bone in his body, he'd
rip up all his rules designed to give him control
of Egyptology itself, and invite in as many
Egyptologists/archaeologists as he could.

Yeah, sure, he should keep control of any and
all trickets they dig up. But if he honestly cared
about anicent Egypt, about uncovering & preserving
the past... saving it from looters & destruction...
he'd be desperate to get people inside of Egypt,
digging everywhere, uncovering & at least recording
history before it is destroyed.

Actions speak louder than words. Hawass keeps
saying that he's a control freak. That, nothing is
more important to him than power, celebrity and
wealth.

I'm glad the sky is painted blue.
And the earth is painted green,
With such a lot of nice fresh air
All sandwiched in between!

That's unusually insightful, by your standards,
but do you really think that it properly
addresses the problems associated preserving
ancient historicak sites?
