Greetings all. I am hoping that someone may be able to help my son
with an assignment for school. He is 11 and has to do a report on
ancient Egyptian games... specifically, Hounds and Jackals. I have
found some information on the game, ie... Layout, proposed rules, what
the game pieces looked like. He is expected to also explain the
symbology behind the game. I can't find that info anywhere. What do
the playing pieces (Hounds and Jackals) symbolize? Is the Jackal the
symbol of the God Anubis? What did Anubis represent? What about the
Hounds? Did the game represent a journey of some sort? I know... a lot
of questions, but I really would be greatly appreciative for any help
that anyone can give my son.
We will be making an actual game board for his presentation based on
the photos of old boards we have seen. I have no idea what we are
going to use for the pieces however. Any suggestions in that respect
would be great! Thanks in advance for any help you good people can
give.
Take care.
